Phone Bank Instructions

Thank you for offering your time to help Lynette reach out to our friends and neighbors here in Taylorsville and Kearns for our Wellness Check.

Normally this time of year we would be canvassing door to door but with the COVID-19 situation we decided it would be best instead to use our resources as a campaign and Lynette's service network to connect our community to the resources they may need, or to share with them ways they can help.

Please familiarize yourself with these pages as every call you make may require different information. This information could change daily so double check every time you sit down. We have broken the page into resources people may need, and ways someone can give back.

Note: you may need to create an account if you haven't used this phone bank platform before.

Instructions for creating an account:

  1. Click here

  2. Click the button that says "Get Started"

  3. Below the sign in boxes there should be a link that says "Create an ActionID Account". Click that.

  4. On this page you will need to enter an email address and set a password. The password must be at least 8 characters, contain one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, and one number or special character.

  5. You will then need to enter your first and last name, as well as your phone number.

  6. Once you have entered all of this information you will need to check the box labeled "By checking this box  you confirm that you have read and accepted our Privacy Policy."

  7. Then select the button labeled "Create an Account"

  8. You will then be shown a screen asking you to enter a virtual phone bank code. Copy this code:AFD3C3O-833154 into the field and press the "Join a Phone Bank" button.

  9. Once you have done this process once you will be able to simply click the "To get started, Click Here" link to access the phone bank.

Making Calls

You will notice that there is a general script. Please review it before starting phone calls and find whatever flow works best for you. Our goal is to simply reach out, identify ourselves with the Lynette Wendel Campaign, and to offer help or let them know there are ways they themselves can help right here in their neighborhoods. If there is a phone number in the top left of the screen, this is their preferred phone number, and that is the one you should call.

If you were unable to reach the person:

  1.  Select the red button labeled "I Couldn't reach *Name*"

  2. Their will be a list of options to choose from, select the one that best suits your experience

  3. Once you have made your selection click the blue button labeled "Save & Next Call"

 

If you were able to reach the person:

  1. Follow the script you see on your screen, do your best to help the person in any way possible.

  2. Attempt to get their email address so that we can send them information on resources available to them. If they give you their email please enter in the field labeled "Notes" at the bottom of the page. Lynette will personally email the person, you do not need to email them.

  3. At the end of each call, please use the drop down option so that we can track who we have been able to reach. You will see a drop down titled "Did they respond to your phone call?" with several options. Just pick the option you feel best to represents the call. 

  4. Once you have entered all of this information and ended the phone call you can click the blue button labeled "Save & Next Call"

Privacy:

If you are concerned about your privacy with your phone number, you can set up a free Google Voice number and make calls using their app on their phone. Be sure to use your WiFi if you use this method as it will not use your data and the quality will be better. Google Voice is not required.

Setting Up Google Voice:

  1. If you have a smartphone you can download the Google Voice app on your phone.

  2. Open the app store on your phone and search for "Google Voice"

  3. Select the Google Voice app from the search results.

  4. Press the blue button labeled "get", if you are prompted you may have to enter your password or use face id.

  5. Once the app has downloaded open it and enter your gmail login information when prompted.

  6. You will then need to select a phone number, the number does not matter, simply choose whatever one is available.

  7. Next you will need to link your google voice account to your cell phone number. Enter your number when prompted.

  8. Now you are ready to begin calling, in the Google Voice app navigate to the keypad (looks like a picture of a number pad near the bottom of the screen) from here you can begin dialing.

If this won't work, you can always dial "*67" (without the quotes) before dialing and it will appear as a restricted number to the person you are dialing. You will most likely receive less responses, so we recommend using the Google Voice number.

 

General Information and Contacts:

We recommend calling in the evenings between 5 PM and 8 PM on weekdays and 10 AM to 8 PM on Saturday but with everyone home right now, you should be safe to make phone calls during the week day.
